Products - Electronic Control - Solenoid Controllers
TBJ Solenoid Controllers offer solutions for demanding system design requirements that make using traditional standalone solenoid designs difficult or impossible.
Pick and Hold Control
General:
Tur-Bo Jet Products' Pick and Hold controllers offer optimized power management for continuous duty solenoid applications. Many applications have far more current
available than a continuous duty solenoid can use as the current is often constrained by the thermal heat rise of the solenoid. Our Pick and Hold Controllers
allow the solenoid designer to take full advantage of all available current during the "pull-in" phase while maintaining the thermal heat rise characteristic
of a continuous duty solenoid during the steady state hold portion. Applications that do not require a Pick and Hold to meet design requirements can still
benefit from the controller in the form of reduced steady state power consumption.
Details:
Our Pick and Hold algorithm drives a PWM solenoid driver to provide full current during the pull-in phase followed by a power reduction during the steady
state holding phase. Timing and the holding pulse width duty cycle are customized per design requirements for each application. Digital and Analog
(no software) versions are available.
Dual Solenoid Pick and Hold Control
General:
Our Dual Solenoid Pick and Hold Controllers provide additional flexibility needed for high-speed operation and special situations. These controllers build
on our Pick and Hold functionality by separating the pick and hold functions into two separate solenoids. This allows the design of each solenoid to be
optimized for either the pick or the hold function. This is especially useful for high speed release applications.
Details:
Our Dual Solenoid Pick and Hold algorithm controls two separate solenoid drivers to provide full current to both solenoids during the pull-in phase followed
by automatically removing power from the Pick solenoid during the steady state holding phase. Solenoid position is monitored and the Pick solenoid is "retriggered"
if an un-commanded dropout is detected. If needed, a PWM driver can be included for the Hold solenoid to further optimize power consumption or holding force.
Timing, retrigger parameters and holding PWM are customized per design requirements for each application. Currently available in Digital version only.
